Continued use of these apps may cause your IP to be blocked indefinitely. This triggers our anti-spambot measures, which are designed to stop automated systems from flooding the site with traffic. Some unofficial phone apps appear to be using GameFAQs as a back-end, but they do not behave like a real web browser does.Using GameFAQs regularly with these browsers can cause temporary and even permanent IP blocks due to these additional requests. If you are using the Brave browser, or have installed the Ghostery add-on, these programs send extra traffic to our servers for every page on the site that you browse, then send that data back to a third party, essentially spying on your browsing habits. We strongly recommend you stop using this browser until this problem is corrected.

The most common causes of this issue are: For them I recommend the Starter Pack.Your IP address has been temporarily blocked due to a large number of HTTP requests. I'm not anti Meph Launcher, it's a quick and easy modding interface for experienced players, but it's a terrible platform for learning the game as a new player. Then they switch, and wonder where all their other modded stuff went.

I mod the /r/dwarffortress subreddit, and when someone comes up with a new bug I've never heard of in years and thousands of hours of answering people's questions, my first question now is "Are you using the Meph Launcher?" and the answer is generally yes.

Also the entire Taffler Revised Dwarf Fortress mod is enabled by default which adds up to huge gameplay changes even if the individual mods by literally a dozen different authors aren't that bad. The big deal is that there are far too many launcher options that will absolutely wreck a new player if touched, invading war elephant civs ffs, and yes people do turn all those on. Meph's said repeatedly he's not fixing that. You should try an Adventure Mode run too, a thing new players often try. The last Meph release is back when stress was still wrecking forts without massive micromanagement, and the guy releasing fan updates has added his own new bugs to the pack. The Starter Pack just gives Vordak title credit for doing all the dwarves. It's the same tileset, it was even updated fairly recently, so it might be you're playing an outdated version of Meph's.

Plus the lazy newb pack is also setup incorrectly by default and causes graphical glitches for some users while meph df works perfectly from the jump

I have tried every tileset that comes with it and I don’t believe any of them quite match. The tileset in the meph pack I don’t believe is in the lazy newb pack. Which is to say, pretty unintuitive especially when you don’t know what most of the stuff is or how it is supposed to work. I know saying anything not in support of the Lazy Newb pack is blasphemy in these parts but it’s almost as if they took their idea for the ui straight from DF. It may not be the most up to date version, but certainly the most beginner friendly. Originally posted by clinodev:People don't talk about it much because a) Meph's not supporting it right now, and hasn't for several important versions of DF and b) almost exactly the same tileset is in the PeridexisErrant Starter Pack anyway, without c) all the "turned on by default without mentioning them" mods that make it a nightmare to support, because they're brand new players and swear they're not using any mods, just the Pack their friend recommended.
